VITAMIN D IS VITAL FOR ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE
Vitamin D has a wide variety of important physiological functions: It helps strengthen bones, coordinates the interaction of nerves and muscles and supports the immune and cardiovascular system. Vitamin D deficiency is unfortunately very common in athletes (especially in women) and can have a detrimental impact on performance. The main source of Vitamin D is made by our own bodies under the skin in reaction to sunlight. Foods contain no or very little amounts of Vitamin D so we rely on exposure to sunlight or on dietary supplements for sufficient Vitamin D supply.
